Laundry Museum

Photos 11273085.JPGThe museum calls to mind the evolution of clothes laundering techniques. Throughout the 25 small rooms, visitors are invited to discover how women used to launder, an activity which lasted a full week, the oppressing steam of the Middle-Ages, the washing machines invented during the second half of the 19th century. Many of the machines have been restored to working order and voluntary guides make them work for you. This is a visit at the same time educational, bizarre and enjoyable, for young and old alike. The Laundry Museum is located in the modern wing of Waux-Hall, the oldest casino of Europe. This building dates from 1770 and is a major element of the heritage of the Walloon region.
