Archaeological museum of Autelbas

Photos 11061283.JPGThe workshop of the Carolingian potters (9th to 10th centuries) presents objects coming from excavations of potter's kilns and adjoining buildings. The circuit proposed retraces, chronologically, the archaeological finds of the Carolingian period. A 20 minute video shows the reconstruction of a kiln and the firing of pottery as in the Carolingian period. You may also admire the castle of the Lords of Autel (14th-20th century) whose plans and objects retrace the development of the site. A stroll in the village, near the archaeological sites (potters' workshop and castle) is possible (it will take you about one hour). The castle is undergoing restoration work. It is not currently accessible to the public.
