Collections

The Museum is spread out over 4 floors and 7 halls. More than 650 objects and documents recall the history of the lords of Beaumont, reproductions of miniatures by Charles de Croy, mementos of the passages of Napoleon, Victor Hugo, of the Princes of Caraman, local crafts, marble work activity, etc... The Salamande Tower, built in the 9th century under Richilde, Countess of Hainaut, was the most important defense tower of the Beaumont fortifications. It was covered with a roof crowned with an onion dome. Four watch towers adorned the corners. It was destroyed several times by fire, but remained standing. Its last restoration was carried out by Simon Brigode from 1952 to 1955. Since then, the tower houses, from May until the end of October, a much diversified museum.
